For the love of linen.

Linen is one fabric that should be in every wardrobe. Here are a few of my picks to start - or fan - your love affair with this amazing natural fibre.

Do you wear linen?

Up until a few years ago linen was almost completely resigned to, let's say, the older generations, those donning resort wear or house dresses from the 60s. Ok and maybe some tourist tea towels.

But times have changed. Linen has made a come back, in a big way.

And I couldn't be happier as it is one of the best natural fabrics with the least environmental impact.

Linen is amazing in so many ways:

  • It's made from the flax plant, which doesn't need a lot of water or pesticides to grow (unlike conventional cotton, by comparison), and the whole flax plant can be used in multiple ways.
  • It's a natural fibre, so it's recyclable and biodegradable (when untreated or dyed using natural dyes).
  • Linen is strong, so items are made to last.
  • It naturally repels moths!
  • It absorbs moisture but it doesn't hang on to bacteria.
Here are a few ethical brands making gorgeous linen garments and homewares.
